Self Impression kit instructions

  • GuardianPro@Home enables you to take your own impression in the comfort of your home.
  • Warning- Our home kits are unsuitable for anyone with very loose teeth, crowns or fixed braces.
The kit is simple to use and children should be supervised at all times when using the kit.
Step 1
  • Read through the instructions fully before attempting to use the kit. Also please click on the short video below which will demonstrate how to take a good impression. Take a look at the pictures showing a good and bad impression.
STEP 2
  • You may have 2 trays to choose from depending the age of the child. Give the tray to the child to try in the mouth. Watch the video with your child first, get them to practice putting it in and out. They may have to stretch their lips around.
  • The most important part is the mixing of the putty and pushing up with a good pressure while the putty is soft.
  • Both puttys need to be mixed together to a uniformed colour, allow no more then 10 seconds for mixing, any further the putty will start to set.
  • Roll into a sausage shape and lay around the tray (Fig 1.)
STEP 3
  • Immediately place the tray in the mouth whilst the putty is soft and using your thumbs either side place equal pressure and keep pushing up, do not bite down, keep pushing the tray up as far as you can until the material spreads around the gums. If a Child is doing the impression, the parent should mix the putty as per instruction, hand the tray to the child and keep telling them to keep pushing up in one motion, keep pushing until you can see they have it deep enough. You may have to massage the excess putty around the gum for them.
  • Keeping your thumbs under the tray massage the excess putty under the top lip to take the contours of your gums. If possible close you lips around the tray but continue to support the tray in your mouth.
STEP 4
  • The tray must remain in the mouth for at least 2/3 minutes or until the material has gone hard. To remove the tray place your index fingers either side at the back of the tray, using each finger in turn gentle pull the tray to release the vacuum.
STEP 5
  • Rinse and once dry place the impression in the clear bag and seal. Please place the clear bag and impression in the free returns envelope, this can be placed in a Post box .
